PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

 It is with great pride and joy that we took over the responsibility of the executive committee on 22^nd  April,2008. With my previous working experience as General Secretary and a dedicated committee, we hope to instill the organization with fresh ideas , more dynamism and interaction amongst the Josephite community.

CONGRATULATIONS to all josephites ! We can now proudly ascertain ourselves to be  a legal entity since Registration was obtained under the name “ ST JOSEPH’S OLD BOYS FOUNDATION (SJOBF)”- as a non-profit entity on August 19^th ,2008 from the office of  the Registerar of joint stock companies. Special thanks goes to Barrister Raihan Nabi’85 and Anwarul Islam Tarek ’74 of the Establishment SC for this milestone accomplishment.

In our very first 1^st EC meeting, we set our priorities targeting our goals, of which the registration of SJOBA as a legal entity remained at the top. We discussed and approved the final draft of the Memorandum for the Foundation, including Rules and Regulations in the EGM on June 22^nd . All Josephites present especially the seniors  univocally supported the proposal along with the juniors which serves to reaffirm our sincerity and solidarity.

Sub-committes with full authority and responsibility  have been formed to undertake specific  aims and Targets . Presently seven SCs are busy transforming Targets into activities . Annual Budget of each SC was discussed and approved in the  last EGM.

To strengthen the very backbone of this foundation, an increase in membership and securing the active participation of the school graduates remains our top priority. In the EGM , we adopted the target to include at least 500 new members within the next one year. Anwarul Islam Tarek ’74 with Virgil Rodrigues ’91 and Ehteshamul Huq ’91 of Membership SC  are undertaking this NEW INCLUSION drive at home and abroad. Necessary infrastructure is being established to open INTERNATIONAL CHAPTERS in UK, USA and CANADA.

We now urgently require participation of the present members to make time and efforts to contact their classmates all over the globe and incorporate them into the network.

In an attempt to build a bridge between the SJOBF  and the school – the School Development SC earmarked certain development projects and plans to begin implementation thru discussion with the school administration. As discussed in the EGM, improvement  and building of infrastructure shall be the  primary goal. SJBF ‘s School SC headed by Dr Kazi Anis Ahmed ’85 have submitted  a detail outline of the RENOVATION OF LIBRARY  & IT LAB and setting up of a MULTIMEDIA COMPLEX . Once accepted – we all need to organize resources to complete the same on schedule.

A new highly interactive WEBSITE (www.josephitebd.org) has been launched with extensive information on the school, SJOBF, its activities and planned events. It will be our TOOL to communicate with our classmates and josphites all around the globe.

SHOPPE J – a souvenir outlet to market and distribute numerous products as  memorabilia has been established. The details are available on the website. Your active participation is a must to support this revenue generating initiative.

You will be happy to hear that our football team – SOCCER KNIGHTS became the champion in the First underground football tournament participated by 23 teams from all over B’desh. SJOBF accorded a reception to these talented Josephites along with Kazi Nabil Ahmed’85 who recently became the Vice President of B’desh Football Association. Naeem Salim’95 and the Sports SC members are taking initiatives to organize the cricket and basketball teams.

Events are planned throughout the year for all segments of Josephites. The recent GRISHER MELA held last May became a tremendous success with the participation of nearly 200 josephites and their families in the school grounds.

 SJOBF held a graduation ceremony to honor the 127 school graduates of whom 30 josephites secured Golden GPAs.All laurets were present with thier parent to witness this colorful function in the school . The Headmaster Bro Leo distributed the crests and certificates.This ceremony,the first of its kind was highly appreciated by the parents and the graduating students  and helped us to reaffrim the very motto “Advancing in wisdom and virtue”

With Allah’s grace and your support we have made considerable strides towards the realization of our goals.  Now it is up to YOU  my fellow Josephites  to extend and reach out with your active participation and support us in the very ambitious dream of building a global fraternity under the banner “JOSEPHITES FOREVER”.
